Nellie was the first of 12 children of John & Alice Bateson. She had brothers William, Petty, Harry, Lloyd & sisters Ethel, Gladys & Mabel.
She was 18 when she married William Chambers on Oct. 30, 1904 in Prairie Depot and had one son Dallas. She appeared in the 1910, 1920, 1930 & 1940 Portage, Wood Co. census with William and son Dallas who never married.
After 54 years of marriage, William died at home on June 7, 1959 in Portage. Nellie died 16 years later on April 19 1975 at age 88 at Blanchard Valley Hospital in Findlay. Both are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
