Mrs. Gerrit VanderLinden died very suddenly at 7 o'clock a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1914, aged 74 years, 3 months, and 28 days. Mrs. VanderLinden had been in poor health for some time, but was able to be about her home.

She was sitting at a table washing dishes Wednesday morning, when without the least warning she fell over dead. Heart trouble is given as the cause of her death. She leaves a husband and four children. Funeral services will be held at the home Friday, May 22 at 1:30 p.m. Interment at the First Reformed Cemetery.

Janneke ("Jennie") Synhorst was born February 21, 1840, in Noordeloos, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, the daughter of Jan and Macheltje (Boot) Synhorst. In 1847 she arrived with her parents and siblings near Pella, Iowa, after sailing to Baltimore from the Netherlands. She died on May 20, 1914, in Pella, Iowa.

She married Jacob van Vark in Marion County on May 14, 1858. He died on December 25, 1890. She and Jacob had four children who survived to adulthood, (i) Wilhlemina, 1863-1940, married Andrew De Penning, (ii) John S., March 24, 1865-September 21, 1961, married Alice de Haan, (iii) Martha Marie, March 23, 1868-May 11, 1954, married Abraham Bogaards, and (iv) Sophia, - February 11, 1878-February 6, 1903.

On June 14, 1894, she married Gerrit N. Vander Linden. He died September 16, 1920.
