Obituary
George Fletcher, Sr. Buena Vista Pioneer
Dies Suddenly Today
George Fletcher, Sr., a native of Buena Vista and who had lived continuously in that township, passed away very unexpectedly at 8:30 o'clock this morning while seated in a chair at his home. He arose at the usual hour, ate breakfast and was enjoying a short respite before taking up the day's duties when the final summons came. Mr. Fletcher had not been in robust health for the past year, his trouble being diagnosed as leakage of the heart, but this did not confine him to bed.
The deceased was nearly 67 years of age, his birthday being on January 31, 1859. He grew to manhood on the old farm, his home until his marriage to Miss Emily Wanty of Amherst some 44 years ago. The young couple purchased other property nearby and developed one of the most valuable places in that district. To them were born six sons and two daughters, Eugene, John, Clair, Ward, George and Earl Fletcher and Mrs. Carroll Gilman, all of Buena Vista, and Mrs. John Dakins of Greenwood.
Mr. Fletcher also leaves a sister, Mrs. Gilbert Puariea of Plover, and two brothers, Charles Fletcher of Buena Vista and Herman D. Fletcher of Stevens Point. There are 35 grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at his home Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, the remains being then taken to Buena Vista cemetery for burial.
