Mrs. Dena May Cain Gunter

Funeral services for Mrs. Dena May Cain Gunter, former longtime resident and restaurant owner of Durant, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 7 in Southern Funeral Home chapel of Durant. The Rev. Doyle Mitchell officiated.

Mrs. Gunter died Monday, November 4 at Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. She had been making her home with her daughter in Lawton for the past several months. She was 76.

Mrs. Gunter was a native of Attala County, was a retired cafe owner, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Durant.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ervin Norris of Lawton, Oklahoma; one sister, Mrs. Nina Jenkins of Sallis; one brother, Jimmy Cain of Durant; two grandchildren and one great- grandchild.

Burial was in Mizpah Cemetery with Southern in charge of arrangements.

Serving as active pallbearers were Murray Cain, Lynn Cain, Henry Cain, Hal Jenkins, Thomas (Bud) Burrell, Jr., and Paul Cain.
