Funeral Services Held Monday For Mrs. Stella Burge
Funeral services for Mrs. Stella Burge, a former Carnegie resident, who died Friday in Oklahoma City, were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the local First Baptist church with Rev. James Weston, pastor officiating. Burial was in the Carnegie cemetery.
Stella Anderson was born July 20, 1881, at Center, Alabama. She was married to Henry C. Burge in 1897 at Ladonia, Texas. They made their home in Batesville, Ark., until the death of her husband in 1950.
Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Burge came to Carnegie to make her home with her sister, Mrs. Roxie Fast. After the death of her sister, Mrs. Burge moved to the Carnegie Nursing Home where she lived for two years before moving to Oklahoma City.
She was a member of the Free Will Baptist church in Arkansas.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Lillie Milligan, Batesville; one brother, Edd Anderson, Oklahoma City; three sisters, Mrs. Asilee Burge, Shawnee, Mrs. Amanda Anthony, Anadarko, and Mrs. Cynthia Martin, Lawton; two granddaughters, three great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews including Mrs. Jim Reynolds, Mrs. Betty Powers, Mrs. J.W. Craig, M.B. Fanning and Mel Anderson, all of Carnegie, and other relatives.
Pallbearers were Vernon Crose, Lindsey Morris, Jim Hanifin, Page Passmore, Bud Ragsdale and Eugene Powers.
