Francis Burton Haines, aged 86 years, prominent farmer and stockman of Cumberland Township, died at 4:45 a.m., Sunday, April 1, 1939, in the Greene County Memorial Hospital. Mr. Haines had been ill about four weeks and most of that time he was a patient in the hospital.

A son of Cyrenius Haines and Mary Ann Pride Haines, he was born February 25, 1853, in Perry Township, near Kirby, and with the exception of 25 years spent near Mannington, W. Va., the remainder of his life was spent in Perry and Cumberland Townships, this county. Mr. Haines was a lifelong member of the Asbury Chapel M. E. Church, near Mt. Morris. Besides his wife, Delphane Fox Haines, he leaves several sons and one daughter, namely: Lewis Ellsworth Haines, of Kentucky; Emmon Haines, of Yowkey, W. Va.; John C. Haines, of Jefferson Township; Clarence L. Haines, of Cumberland Township; Mack Haines, of Greene Township; Irvin Haines, of Cumberland Township; William T. Haines, of Perry Township, and Mrs. Elizabeth Husk, of Warwood, W. Va. He also leaves one brother, Dr. Dempsey D. Haines, of Charleroi; a sister, Mrs. Fornie (Alice) Stoneking, of Davistown; 23 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.
