John C. Haines, 87, of 190 South Washington Street, Waynesburg, died at 9 p.m., Wednesday, April 25, 1973 in Greene County Memorial Hospital. He had been in faililng health for some time and seriously ill since February.

Mr. Haines for many years operated a livestock farm on Coallick Run in Perry Township, and for several years had made his home at Waynesburg with his sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Husk.

A son of Francis Burton and Delphene Fox Haines, he was born January 25, 1886 in Marion County, W. Va., near Mannington. He taught school as a young man, first at Brock and later in West Virginia, teaching his last term in 1913.

He was a long-time member of the Asbury Chapel United Methodist Church near Mt. Morris.

Mr. Haines never married.

Surviving, in addition to his sister, Mrs. Husk, are two brothers, Irwin Haines of Carmichaels, R. D. 1 and William T. Haines of Mt. Morris, R. D. 1.

Four brothers, Ellsworth, Emmon, Clarence and Miles, are deceased, and another brother and sister died in infancy.
