ESTEEMED WOMAN IS LAID TO REST

Glowing tributes of the life and character of Anna Olson Johnson, wife of the late Charles A Johnson of Afton, who died Thursday May 13 of a heart attack after a weeks illness, were given by lifelong friends and neighbors at the funeral services in the Afton South Ward chapel Sunday.
The speakers were President Clarence Gardner, W. W. Cranney, L.C Jensen and Arch Gardner.
President Gardner spoke of the harmony that existed betwwwn Bro. and Sister Johnson. He also spoke of the resurrection of the dead.
W.W. Cranney spoke of his life long acquaintance with the Johnson family, spoke of the beautiful example that Sister Johnson had been to her family.
L. Cl Jensen spoke of his close association with Brother Johnson and paid tribute to Sister Johnson's ability as a home maker and companion.
Closing remarks were made by Arch Gardner.
Musical numbers were: ladies conto Chorus "Beyond To-day". Solo "Mother of Mine" by Mondell White. Solo by Arch Gardner "Resignation" Ladies Trio" Prayer Perfect" was sung by Gean Harrison, Lucille Call and Nellie Roberts. The closing song by the Ladies Chorus.
The opening prayer was offered by Ben Nield and the closing prayer by Ernest Clark.
Beautiful flowers banked the casket.
Anna Olson Johnson was born in Holby Sweden November 29, 1864. Several years later she moved with her parents to the city of Malmo, Sweden, where at the age of 19 she joined the church. Two years after she joined the church she came to Utah making her home in Midvale. Here she met Charles A. Johnson and was married to him the following year 1887. They made their home in Midvale for five years, then came to Star Valley in 1861 and settled on their ranch south of Afton. They lived on this ranch for seven years and then moved to Smoot and lived on their ranch there for 25 years. Thirteen years ago they moved to Afton and Mrs Johnson has been a member of the Afton South Ward since that time.
Friends and associates of Mrs Johnson will miss her kindness and cheerfulness. Her life was a life of devotion to her family and friends.
She has had twelve children, six daughters and six sons, three have preceded her in death. The nine living are: Arthur Johnson, auburn; Orson, Harry and Reuben Johnson and Mrs Alice Porter of Smoot; Mrs Elva Morris and Mrs Sadie Baldwin of Salt Lake City; Mrs Irene Nussbaum of Montpelier, Idaho and Chas H. Johnson of Afton. She is also survived by 37 grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
This wonderful mother reared nine children of her won and four grand children.

Mrs Chas. A Johnson of Afton passed away today following an illness of only a few days. It has only been four or five months since her husband was buried.
Funeral services will be held in the South ward chapel at 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
