Harold Wilhoite was the son of Herbert Ervin & Pearl [Kyker] Wilhite. He married Ola Marie Wilson 28 Jun 1941 in Jefferson County, TN. Three children: Kenneth Fredrick, Harold Rex, Jr., & Elbert Herschel Wilhoite.

Harold Wilhoite was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, serving in Switzerland, England, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. He was involved in the major air offensive against Germany, the battle for Normandy, the Battle of the Ardennes, and the battle for the Rhineland.

Harold was awarded the Bronze Star by the U.S. Army and was awarded the Belgian Fourragere for Meritorious service by the Belgian Army.

WILHOITE, HAROLD -- 42, of Wayne, Michigan formerly of Strawberry Plains, died at 6 P.M., Monday, at Annapolis Hospital in Wayne, Michigan.

Mr. Wilhoite was a member of Palmer Baptist Church and formerly was employed by American Zinc Co.

Survivors: wife, Mrs. Ola Wilson Wilhoite, Michigan; sons, Fred, Rex, Hershall, all of Wayne, Mich.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Wilhite, Carter Community; sisters, Nola Mae Hancock, Townsend, Imogene Flattre, California; brothers, Arthur Lee Wilhoite, Carl R., Sherman, Burl F., Bill E. Wilhite, Strawberry Plains, Ralph B. Wilhite, California.

Body will arrive Knoxville at 10 a.m. Friday. Funeral, 2 P.M., Saturday, Lyons Creek Baptist Church, Revs. Arnold Collins and M. H. Carder officiating. Interment in Holston View Memorial Gardens. Body will lie in state at church one hour before services, Family will receive friends Friday evening at Robison & Fielden Mortuary, New Market.

Active pallbearers: Ancile, Lute, J. P., Herman, Guy, and Kenney Wilhite. Honorary pallbearers: Roy Cash, J. T. Rimmer, Earl Wilson, Joe Ray Wilson, Ray Gardner and Tobe Hart. Robison & Fielden, New Market in charge.
