Marshall and Cleo had four children. In 1940 they moved to Tombstone, AZ with his brother, Lynn, to work the Bisbee mine. Marshall was a copper miner, Lynn was a copper mucker. Marshall enjoyed dog racing with his brother, Russell. He was tall, thin and had a funny sense of humor.

Marshall was the 3rd great grandson of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone. He was the great-grandson of the Missouri pioneers Thomas and Lydia Taylor.
