Russell Melvyn Boone, 79, died peacefully at his home on July 1, 2003.

He was born and raised in El Centro, California and was an electrician for Local 569 in San Diego, California. Russell was a resident of the Pinetop-Lakeside area for the 28 years. Upon arrival in the area in 1975 he built, owned, and operated the Fawnbrook Laundromat prior to his retirement. Russell enjoyed dancing, gardening, and followed greyhound dog racing - his biggest passion - most of his adult life. He was also a fan of country western music and composed many of his own songs. Russell had five daughters by his first marriage.

Russell was the 3rd great grandson of the famous explorer Colonel Daniel Boone. He was the great-grandson of the Missouri pioneers Thomas and Lydia Taylor.
