Roman Pethan, 69, of Charlesburg, died Wednesday, May 23, at Calumet Memorial Hospital, Chilton, following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 5, 1910 in Chilton, a son of George and Margaret Daun Pethan. On Nov. 9, 1933, he married the former Leona Schneider at Kloten. The couple farmed in the town of Brothertown their entire married lives retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg, and its Holy Name Society.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Mrs. Donald (Arlene) Knaus of Kohler, Mrs. Gregor (Clare) Hilt of Waupun and Mrs. Marion Olson of Milwaukee; three sons, Andrew of R. 1, Chilton; Bernard of R. 2, Chilton and George of R. 3, Chilton; 22 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Marie Meyers and Mrs. Gregor Propson, both of R. 2, Chilton, Mrs. Roland Gruber of Hilbert, and Mrs. Marvin Ecker of Stockbridge, and two brothers, Henry of Chilton and Leonard of R. 2, Chilton.

The Rev. William Eberhardy, pastor, was celebrant of the funeral Mass Saturday at St. Charles Catholic Church, Charlesburg. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
