Clair Lawrence, died al 4:10 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27, after being critically ill for a number of weeks. Mr. Lawrence was a member of one of the pioneer families of the Arlie community, where he grew up and where he was a farm leader for many years. The son of Mr. and Mrs. L. Lawrence, he was born Sept. 12. 1894 at Quanah, but it was only a short time later that the family came to the Arlie community. He spent his childhood in a pioneer area that was emerging into rapid growth as a rich agricultural section. As a man he became a part of this growth and gave much of his time to the development of the Arlie section, to its community life, its schools and churches. He was a veteran of World War I.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruth Lawrence of Hollis; a step-daughter, Mrs. Vera Lynn States of Albuquerque, N.M.; a brother and five sisters: Jake Lawrence of Arlie; Mrs, Florence Moore of Canyon; Mrs. Georgia Lemley of Nazareth, Penna.; Mrs. Ura Scott, Mrs. Mary Scott and Mrs. Lucille West of Wellington
