Franz, born in Olpe, Westfalia, Prussia, is the son of Adrian & Anna Margaret (Grosmann) Wiesemann. On 16 July 1850, in Olpe, he married Regina Heer. Biographies & census show Franz immigrated to the U S in 1852. Information for their second son, John Peter shows he was about two years old when the family immigrated, making the year 1854. Anna most likely immigrated after Franz, with her two sons.

His parents were born, reared, married and died in Prussia, his father November 1, 1853, and his mother in 1846. In 1852, Franz Wiesemann came to the United States for the purposes of living in a free country and procuring for himself a home; he came to Indiana and stopped in La Porte County about two years, and later near Westville until 1869, when he came to Porter County, and settled where he now resides. He is one of the most enterprising farmers in this county, owning 400 acres. While in Prussia, he married Regina Heer. To them seven children have been born - August, J. Peter, Franklin, Charles, William, Josephine and Dora. He and his family are Catholics. In politics, Mr. Wiesemann is a Democrat. His second son, J. Peter is married, and a farmer in this township.
