Carrie's sister Emma died in 1916, and Carrie married Emma's widow, Howden Thomas Giles, and raised Emma's two sons. Tom, who had been an engineer with the Louisville & Nashville Railroad, died in 1953. She is buried at Locust Hill Cemetery on one side of Tom. Sister Emma is on the other.

Mrs. Carrie Giles, 85, of 1261 Sheffield Drive, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Holiday Home Nursing Home.
She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ, the Women's Guild and Ann Hasseltine Sunday School class.
Her husband, H. Thomas, who died in 1953, had been an engineer for the Louisville & Nashville Railroad.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vera Rose, and two sons, Jack and Robert, all of Evansville; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild, nieces and nephews.
Friends may call after 6 p.m. Monday at Alexander Funeral Home West Chapel.
