WM. HERBERT "HERB" MATTINGLY, 75, of St. Francis, died at 8:10 P.M. June 9 at St. Anthony's Hospital in Louisville. Mr. Mattingly was a native of St. Francis and retired from J. W. Dant Distillery. He was a member of the West Marion Co. Senior Citizens. His parents were the late Edward G. and Florence Nalley Mattingly. Survivors include: his wife, Mrs. Susie Ruley Mattingly; four sons, Jodie of Louisville, Jiggs of Loretto, Phil and Randy of St. Francis; seven daughters, Mrs. A. C. "Louise" Willard, Mrs. James "Norma Lee" McQuillen, Mrs. Rita Downs of Louisville, Mrs. Ray "Sue" Downs of New London, Conn., Mrs. Hatsie "Libby" Mattingly, Mrs. Jackie "Wanda" Masterson and Mrs. Tony "Rosie" Bell of Loretto; one sister, Mrs. Ado "Sis" Simms of Mt. Washington; one brother, Edward "Nig" Mattingly of Louisville; 25 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 10 A.M. June 13 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Marvin C. Rolfes officiated. Pallbearers were Tommy, Ricky, Ronnie and Frankie Mattingly, Donald McQuillen and Ronnie Downs. Prayer services were conducted at 6 P.M. June 12 at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto. They were in charge of the arrangements.
