Mary Edith "Sis" Simms, 92, died Monday. She is survived by daughters, Mary Ruth Simms, Virginia Mae Ballard, Naomi Mullins, Bonnie Jean Kissell, Shirley Cambron and Joyce Mattingly; sons, J.A., Gerald and Bobby; 46 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Church, in Mt. Washington, Ky. Visitation: 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mattingly Funeral Home, in Loretto, Ky.

Mary Edith "Sis" Simms, 92, Mount Washington, formerly of St. Francis, died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at her residence. She was born June 16, 1910, in St. Francis and was a former homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Adrian "Ado" Simms; four infant children, Charles Howard Simms, Cecelia Ann Simms, Charles Bernard Simms and Joseph A. Simms; her parents, Edward G. Mattingly and Martha Florence Nalley Mattingly; and three brothers, Edward Eugene Mattingly, Joseph Aaron "Genny" Mattingly and William Herbert Mattingly. Survivors include six daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Mary Ruth) Simms, Mount Washington; Mrs. Newman (Virginia Mae) Ballard, Naomi Mullins and Bonnie Jean Kissell, all of Louisville; Shirley Cambron, Manton; and Mrs. John (Joyce) Mattingly, New Haven; three sons, J. A. Simms and Gerald Simms, both of Mount Washington; and Bobby Simms, Leitchfield; 46 grandchildren; 75 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Mount Washington, with burial in Highland Memory Gardens, Mount Washington. The Rev. Scott J. Wimsett will be chief celebrant. Visitation is 1-9 p.m. today at Mattingly Funeral Home in Loretto with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Pallbearers are John Daniel Mattingly, Phillip Kennedy, Richard Alcorn, Danny Simms, Jason Kennedy and Michael Bryan. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Louisville, 3542 Ephraim McDowell Drive, Louisville, Ky 40205-9890. Mattingly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
