LEBANON ENTERPRISE OBITUARY - 02/24/1928
DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS
John Mattingly, a farmer living in the western part of the county, died at his home near Chicago last Friday morning about one o'clock of complications. He had been in failing health for several months. Mr. Mattingly was a son of E. G. and Bettie Davis Mattingly and was born in the section where he died on October 22, 1887. He was united in marriage to Miss Mattie Mattingly on February 19, 1908, at St. Charles Church at St. Mary, the Rev. J. J. Pike performing the ceremony. He was a highly respected citizen and a devout member of the Catholic Church. Surviving Mr. Mattingly are his father, his wife, four daughters and four sons. They are Misses Lucille, Thelma, Helen and Margaret Mattingly and John, Jr., Spencer, Robert and Nolan Mattingly. Funeral services were held at the St. Francis Catholic Church at Chicago Monday morning by Rev. N. Werner followed by burial in the church cemetery.
