Obituary:
Edna A. Smith, age 97, of Trenton, Ohio, died at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, May 22, 2003, at Hawthorn Glenn Nursing Center. She was born in Trenton on February 19, 1906, the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Bernt) Allspach. On March 12, 1931, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Edna married J. Harold Smith. They were married for 65 years. Harold preceded Edna in death on June 20, 1996. Harold and Edna spent their life together as farmers in the Wayne-Madison Road area until his retirement in 1995. She was a member of the Trenton Mennonite Church, the Women's Christian Service of Trenton and the Butler County Farm Bureau.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Richard L. Smith and his wife Bobbie of Trenton, Virginia Longmire and her husband Sam of Trenton, and Marilyn Otto of Stuart, Florida; five grandchildren, Jeffrey and Darryl Smith, Greg Knotts, Amy Ring and Charles Otto; three great-grandchildren, Greg and Randy Ring, and Kaitlyn Smith; sister, Louise Richter of Middletown; and two brothers, Homer Allspach of Texas and Walter Allspach of Hamilton, Ohio. Edna also was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Esther Kroger, Hilda Truster, Frieda Persch and Alma Woodrey; two brothers, Ernst and Wilmer Allspach; and one grandson Steven Smith.
Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South "D" Street, Hamilton, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, with Pastor Glen Martin officiating. Burial will follow at Woodside Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 25, 2003, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
