FORMER SHERIFF OF COUNTY DIES

J. E. Adamson, aged 72 years, nine months and 27 days, well known resident of Morgan Township and former sheriff of Greene County, died yesterday, May 4, 1939, at 1:10 o'clock at his residence.
Mr. Adamson was born July 7, 1866, in Franklin Township, a son of Joseph and Harriet Adamson, deceased. He spent most of his life in Center Township, however, serving as road supervisor and assessor for the township. Later he removed to Morgan township where he served as school director. From 1918 to 1922 he served as sheriff of Greene County. A member of the Baptist Church, Mr. Adamson was also active in a number of lodges, being a former member of the P. O. S. of A., the I.O.O.F. and Modern Workmen.
He was married to Elizabeth N Hoge, who died December 9, 1933. He is survived by the following children: Haddie, Cecelia, Arthur and Cinderella, at home; Alva Adamson, of Waynesburg, R. D. 6; Mrs. Marle Sargent and Kenneth Adamson, of Detroit, Mich. Two sisters, Mrs. Emma Kuhn. of Steubenville, O., and Mrs. George E. Grimes, of Holbrook, survive along with 15 grandchildren.

Funeral services for J. E. Adamson, of Morgan township, will be held Saturday afternoon, May 6,at 3 o'clock, from the residence, in charge of Rev. Harvey Funk. Interment will be at the Memorial Park. Friends will be received at the home.
