ALBA, Mo. — Edna E. Chidester, 79, Alba, died at 11:44 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 1997, at the Missouri Rehabilitation Center, Mount Vernon, after three years of ill health. Mrs. Chidester was born June 8, 1917, in Cherokee County, Kan. She had lived in Alba more than 50 years. She was a homemaker. She attended Friends Church and was a member of the ATA Lodge.

Her husband, Harry Chidester, died Nov. 2, 1993. Survivors include a sister, Sylvia Wright, Carthage Route 2; a brother, James Black, Winterhaven, Fla.; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Friends Cemetery, Purcell, under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. The Rev. Wilson Baker will officiate. Grandsons and great-grandsons will be pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
