RICE, Miller B. – Following a short illness Miller B. Rice, an old settler of Pea Ridge, died at his home on Saturday, January 14th, 1928 at the age of 78 years. He was born at Riceville, McMinn County, Tenn. In 1849 and moved with his parents, Charles W. Rice and Julia C. Rice, to Pea Ridge when he was ten years of age and has lived on the old home place since that time. In 1879 he married Sally Lee and would have celebrated his golden wedding anniversary this year. He was one of the most liked and highly respected citizens of Benton County and was held in the highest esteem by all those with whom he became associated. Funeral services were conducted at Buttram Chapel Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. Hutton of Rogers in the presence of the largest gathering that ever attended a funeral in that part of the county. Rev. A.E. Carnahan and John Buttram assisted in the services after which interment was made in the cemetery at Buttram Chapel. He leaves surviving him his wife, Sallie Lee Rice; a daughter, Minnie, and five brothers, Attorney C.M. Rice of Bentonville; T.S. and R.M. Rice of Pea Ridge; Dr. Clint Rice of Rogers and Will Rice of Hindsville. [Benton County Herald – Bentonville, Benton County, Arkansas – January 19, 1928]
