MRS CLARA O'CONNELL DIES AT HER HOME Suffered Intensely During Last Weeks of Illness Funeral Held Monday Afternoon Mrs Clara O'Connell passed away at her home near Emmet last Saturday morning Nov 12 Death came to her as a relief from the intense suffering she had endured during the last weeks of her illness She had been bedfast for the past six months afflicted with a cancer Mrs O'Connell wife of Cornelius O'Connell of Emmet was the daughter of Mr and Mrs Chas Kirkland of Atkinson The funeral service was held Monday afternoon at 2 p m at the O'Connell home west of Emmet in charge of the Rev Wm Gr Vahle pastor of St John's Lutheran church Atkinson Burial was in Wood-lawn cemetery Atkinson where she was borne to her last resting place by her six brothers Edwin Harold Benson Wesley Louis and Emery Kirkland Clara daughter of Charles and Rebecca Kirkland was born Sept 15 1887 at Coronado Kansas died at her home near Emmet Neb Noy 12 1932 aged 45 years one month and 26 days In the year 1905 she came to Nebraska with her parents aqd the family lived for a short time on a farm north of Atkinson On May 6 1908 she was united in marriage to Cornelius O'Connell and since that time made her home on the farm just west of Emmet l - 1 To this union five children were born one of whom Hazel died in Lutancy"t Those' who survive'her together - with their father' are George ' E Richard F Mildred and Lela Graces Other members of her family who mourn her death are her father and mother Mr and Mrs Chas Kirkland of Atkinson six brothers Edwin Kirkland Ottumwa la Harold of Waterloo la Benson of Chicago III Wesley Louis and Emery of Atkinson two sisters Mrs E H Chace of Atkinson and Mrs John E Baker of Ottumwa la all of whom were here for the funeral.
