Emery Kirkland
NAMPA — Private family services for Emery Kirkland, 85, Route 6, Nampa, who died Friday at a Nampa nursing of a long illness, will be conducted Monday at the Alsip Funeral Chapel by the Rev. Victor Brewer, Caldwell Church of God. Interment will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
He was born May 5, 1892, at Oskaloosa, Iowa. At the age of 13 he moved with his parents to Atkinson, Neb. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1917 to 1919 and married Marvel H. Dyer Jan. 1, 1920, at Bassett, Neb. After their marriage they lived in Carns, Neb., for several years. He worked as a construction carpenter for many years in the Northwest. They moved to Mountain Home in 1948 and later lived in Oregon and Washington. They moved to Nampa in 1959.
Surviving are his wife of Nampa; two sons, Dale of Great Falls, Mont., and Bob of Kent, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Strohl of Nampa; a brother, Benson of Villa Park, Ill.; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Chase of Atkinson; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, four brothers and two sisters.
