A. HAYS GILLESPIE

A. Hays Gillespie, son of John Taylor Gillespie and Cynthia Hays, was born Jan. 3, 1878 and passed away Nov. 29, 1965 at the home of his daughter at the age of 87 years.

He was born and raised in Benton Township, and spent his entire life farming there. On Nov. 8, 1899 he was married to Pearl Jamison.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Pearl in 1917, one daughter, two half-brothers and one half-sister.

He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Dean (Velma) Culver of Chariton; one son James T. Gillespie of South Laguna, Calif., also two grandchildren Bill Culver of Chariton and Joyce Dragoin of Auburn, Ala., and three great-grandchildren.

Services were conducted at the Miley Chapel Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. William Osick officiating. Interment was in the Chariton cemetery.

Husband of Pearl L. Jamison. Son of John Taylor Gillespie and Cynthia Annetta Hays.
