Roy married Dorothy Cotton and they had a daughter Dorothy June. He and Dorothy divorced, and Roy married Edna Hill Nov 8, 1939 in Brainerd, Minnesta. They had 2 children: Carol and Roy. Roy worked as the manager of an S&L store in Brainerd, and was transferred to the store in Centerville, Iowa where he worked until 1964. He and Edna operated a cafe in Centerville until the early 1970's. Roy then worked at McGraw Edison for about 10 years.

Roy died of cancer at the age of 79.
