Sarah Sophia Winterton was born 11 Nov 1872 at Charleston, Wasatch, Utah to John Marriott Winterton and Emma Inkpen Noakes being the 2nd child and first daughter of twelve children. They are in order of birth, John Eugene, Sarah Sophia, Eliza Ann, Emma, George William, Joseph, Hyrum, David,Rose Anna, Henry, Robert, Isabella.
She grew up in Charleston and there met George W. Simmons. They were married 11 oct 1889 in Heber City, Wasatch, Utah Territory.
She is the mother of eleven children. In order of birth they are, Rosetta (Zettie), George Edward (Ed), Jesse, Lillie, Charles Jullian, Albert, Ellen Eliza, Sylvan Earl, Ernest LeRoy, Joseph William (Bill), and Violet.
Sarah helped George grub the sagebrush and clear the rocks from the land they purchased in Charleston. They moved two one room houses and joined them together and added a lean to on the back. They lived there and raised their family until 1926 when their home burned down. Their son Bill built them a new one with the help of a neighbor, Elisha Webster who was a carpenter. Every night when Elisha got home from work he would go and instruct Bill what he should do the next day until the home was completed.
Sarah lived her entire life in Charleston and raised a wonderful family.
She died in Price, Carbon, Utah and is buried in the Charleston, Wasatch Cemetery,
