Born on November 1, 1919 in Mahaffey, PA, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Jane (Beitz) Bailey.
She was a homemaker and was a affiliated with the Christian Missionary and Alliance Church in Curwensville and the Neimonds Independent Church, Richfield, PA.
Mrs. Welker is survived by two daughters: Shirley J. Shaffer and her husband, Butch, of Richfield, PA, and Hilda M. Wheeler and her husband, Herman, of Killeen, TX; four grandchildren,fourteen great grandchildren, a sister, Stella Haag of Clearfield and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Woodrow W. Welker Sr. whom she married on May 20, 1939 and who passed away on March 22, 1999, two sons Woodrow W. Welker, Jr. and Thomas Allen Welker, two infant sons, a stepdaughter; Margaret Gates, two brothers; John F. and Fred Bailey, five sisters; Emiline McKeown, Myrtle Bailey, Mary Barto, Sadie Hazard and Ruth Miller.
Funeral services will be held at the Bennett and Houser Funeral Home, Inc. on Thursday, October 22, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. with Pastor Arthur Mott officiating. Interment will be in Centre Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Thursday from noon till the hour of services.
