Bessie E. Mundy, 96, Kokomo, died 9:33 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 29, 2004, at Howard Regional Health System. She was born Feb. 18, 1908, in Carmi, Ill., the daughter of William and Lucille (Smith) Acord. On Nov. 20, 1923, she married John A. Mundy and he preceded her in death in October 1987.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carol Mundy, Ray and Denise Mundy, all of Kokomo; one daughter, Mae Mundy, Bullhead City, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Clyde Acord, Wilford and Sherry Acord, all of Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, seven sons, one sister, two brothers, one grandson, one granddaughter and one step-granddaughter.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Grecu Family Funeral Home, 414 W. Jefferson St., with Pastor Algie VanWinkle officiating. Burial will follow in Crown Point Cemetery. Friends are invited to call from noon to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Grecu Family Funeral Home, 414 W. Jefferson St., Kokomo, IN 46901.
