He was hit by a car on West 1st Street, Oswego, New York. He was blind for nearly 28 years. He had his legs amputated due to diabetes. He was burned while he worked at the Candy Works. He was the leader of Ahart Melody Boys band. He played the banjo, drums, and violin.

Daniel Max Ahart, 70, of 71 Liberty St., died this morning in Oswego hospital after a long illness. Born in Oswego, Aug. 22, 1890, he was the son of the late Sarah and Michael Ahart and has resided here all his life.
Mr. Ahart had been employed for 27 years at Long's Candy Works until an accident forced his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Mary's church.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Lou Nicolas Ahart; nine sons, Daniel, Ralph, Leonard, Charles, Lawrence, Willard and Neil of Oswego; Howard of St. Paul, Minn. and Robert of Muckegan, Mich.; one daughter, Mrs. George (Mary) Hotaling, with whom he resided with 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements with the Connell funeral home are incomplete at his time.

Funeral Tuesday
Funeral services for Daniel Max Ahart, 69, of 71 Liberty St., who died Friday after a long illness, will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday from the Connell funeral home and at 9:30 in St. Mary's church, were a solemn high Mass of requiem will be celebrated. Burial will be in Union Village cemetery.
