Rix L. Haskett, 66 years of age, life-long resident of this county and of the community in which he died, passed away at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home in the Sandbank community, death ending an illness of two years from high blood pressure and heart trouble. Tend days ago his condition became much worse and Friday of last week he lapsed into unconsciousness.

With the passing of Mr. Haskett the community loses one of its best citizens and a man, who despite the fact that his time was occupied bu many matters, devoted every spare minute to improvement of the community in which he lived. He was one of the ardent supporters of the Sandbank Christian church northeast of Tipton, was superintendent of the Sunday school there for many years and was county superintendent and district secretary of the Sunday school organization. A square shooter and a man whose word was as good as a gold bond, Rix Haskett had the confidence and respect of all.

Following the death, the body was taken to the Leatherman Funeral Home for preparation and lay in state there until Monday afternoon when it was taken to the home to lie in state until the hour of services. The funeral will be held at the West Street Christian church in Tipton at 2:00 Tuesday afternoon and burial will follow in Fairview cemetery.

Rev. Russell Sifred former pastor at Sandbank, will conduct the services and will be assisted by Rev. Earl Schwyhart, present pastor at Sandbank.

Rix Haskett was born on a farm east of Tipton, which was a portion of the farm now owned by William M. Hoover, hiss parents being Elisha and Charlotte (Cordell) Haskett. His father was one of the pioneers of the county, coming here in 1848 from North Carolina. Rix was one of three children born to his parents, his father having been married before. One full sister, whose first husband, Marioa Tichenor, died in Tipton a number of years ago, survives.

The deceased was united in marriage August 28, 1892, to Miss Eva Hoover, daughter of Frederick and Eveline (Miller) Hoover, Rev. George Bozell performing the wedding ceremony at the home of the bride's parents northeast of Tipton.

Surviving with the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Sibyl Clark, wife of Earl Clark of Kirklin; and Mrs. Blanche Ray, wife of Floyd Ray, of the Hopewell community.

He is also survived by a half brother, H.C. Haskett, residing east of Tipton and two half-sisters, Mrs. Emma Barngrover of Los Angeles, Calif; and Mrs. Lotties Turner, of Newton Falls,Ohio. A number of grandchildren also survive.
