Henry married Julia Ann Harper on February 18, 1830 in Warren County, Ohio, and his second wife Catherine Zentmire on March 26, 1839. He settled in Bartholomew County, Indiana where he first purchased land on August 21, 1834, later operating a general merchandise store in Old Saint Louis, and had a sizeable farm just south of that community. In 1871 he purchased the building used by the Saint Louis Crossing Presbyterian Society and presented it to his own Methodist congregation. At the time of his death he owned 600 acres of 'rich land'.
