Funeral services for Mr. Abel Prudhomme, 72, were held in Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel-South in Opelousas with burial in Bellevue Memorial Park. The Rev. Ted Hall conducted the services.

Mr. Prudhomme, a resident of Opelousas, died (Friday, April 14, 2000) in Tri Community Nursing Home in Palmetto.

He was retired from the oil field and grocery store owner. Mr. Prudhomme was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

Survivors are his wife, Josephine "Jo" Doucet Prudhomme of Opelousas; three sons, Carl Prudhomme, of Port Barre, Wayne Prudhomme and Linn Prudhomme, both of Opelousas; two daughters, Catherine Prudhomme of Sunset and Mildred P. GUIDRY, of Opelousas; five brothers, Ralph Prudhomme, of Port Barre, J.C. Prudhomme of Baton Rouge, Calvin Prudhomme, of Lawtell, Eli Prudhomme Jr., of Cankton and Paul Prudhomme of New Orleans; two sisters, Enola Prudhomme Prather, of Carencro and Darilee Broussard of Opelousas; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Mr. Prudhomme was preceded in death by his parents, Eli and Hazel Reed Prudhomme; three brothers, Elden, Bobby and Malsolm Prudhomme; and a sister, Alice Fontenot.

Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home on the Old Sunset Road in Opelousas is in charge of arrangements.
