Decedent was born in Schleswig, Germany, Sept. 2, 1836, and came to America in 1852 with his parents, who settled on the farm west of the village, now owned by Rud. Muenster. He remained on this homestead until the infirmities of old age compelled him to retire, and since then he has been living with his son, Louis. He was united in marriage to Mary Peters on November 22, 1861.
Mrs. Wichmann preceded her husband in death in 1898.
Twelve children were born of this wedlock, eight sons and four daughters. Four sons, William of California, John, George and Louis of New Holstein; three daughters, Mrs. Dora Eldridge of Chilton, Mrs. Edw. Reimers of Bear Creek and Mrs. Mary Erbach of New Holstein, ten grandchildren, one brother, Hans Wichmann of Canada, survive.
The funeral took place on Saturday afternoon, Rev. A. C. Plappert officiating.
