New Holstein – Miss Mary Wichmann, a former resident of this city, passed away at the home of her niece, Mrs. Minnie Kingston, at Chilton Wednesday at 10;30 p.m. Miss Wichmann was 85 years of age.

She was born on a farm near this city, the daughter of Johann and Anna Dorothea Wichmann. When a young woman she came to this city where she worked as a dressmaker. She raised her brother, Henry Wichmann’s daughter, Gretchen, who later was married to Henry Schroeder. Miss Wichmann went to live with the Schroeder’s in Canada in 1905.
She resided with them until Mrs. Schroeder passed away and then Miss Wichmann returned to this city to live with her grandniece, Mrs. Howard Walsh. After Mrs. Walsh’s death a number of years ago, she left for Chilton to reside with Mrs. Kingston.

Four brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Survivors are a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at the Erbe- Hoffmann Funeral home in this city with Alton Wichmann, the dean of men at Wayland hall, Beaver Dam, officiating, and interment was in the local cemetery.
