Mrs. Sarah Law Mauk Mitchell Died After Month's Illness At Age of 76 Years
Mrs. Sarah Law Mauk Mitchell, lifelong resident of Sportsburg, died in her home there Thursday morning at 10:05 o'clock following an illness of one month. She was 76 years of age.
The deceased was born in Horatio, December 4, 1861, a daughter of Robert and Mary Elizabeth (McQuown) Law. As a child she moved to Sportburg where she lived until her death. She was married twice and on June 18, 1919, she became the bride of Isaac Mitchell, who preceded her in death.
As long as there was an Episcopal Church in Sportsburg she was a loyal and active member. A loving mother, kind friend, and good neighbor, she will be sorely missed in the community where she made her home for so many years.
She is survived by the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Dora Mitchell, and Mrs. Minnie Ross, of Frostburg; Mrs. Edna Postlewaite, of Valier; Ira and Hamilton Mauk, of Sportsburg; and Mrs. Berniece Flickinger, of Sagamore. One brother, Robert Law, of Lebanon; three sisters, Mrs. Rhoda Sutter, of Covode; Mrs. Susan Haugh, of Sportsburg; and Mrs. Mamie Steffey, of Punxsutawney, 26 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held in the late home of the deceased beginning at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Rev. Jones, of Valier, officiating. Interment will be in the Horatio Cemetery
