Funeral services for Robert Denzil Acord, 45, of Eccles, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today with the Rev. Ronnie Holsey and the Rev. John Richardson in charge. Burial will follow in the Acord Cemetery at Bolt.

He died unexpectedly at his home at 3 p.m. today. Death was attributed to an apparent heart attack.

Born Jan. 17, 1918 at Glen White, he was a son of Mrs. Flossie Acord of Bolt, and the late Lacy Acord.

He was employed by the Eastern Associated Cola Corp. prior to 1950 and then was employed by the Raleigh-Wyoming Coal Co. at Glen Rogers until the mine closed.

Acord was a veteran of World War II.

Survivors other than his mother, include his wife, Mrs. Geneva Accord, Eccles: three sons, Robert, Jr., Larry Wayne and Jerome Edward: Three daughters, Gwen, Della Mae, and Ellen Ann, all at home: eight brothers, Harless, Roger, Johnny, Woolsey, Buddy, and Gail all of Bolt, Jack of Cyclone and Glen of Ravencliff; two sisters, Mrs. Agnes Belcher, Bolt and Mrs. Portalee Davis, Glen Fork.

The body will remain at the Melton Mortuary until one hour prior to services at which time it will be removed to the church.

Pallbearers will be Dorsey Daniel. Frank Raso, Tom Snuffer, Floyd Lester, Carl Barker, Joe Barker, Roy Lucas and Mason Clay.
