WALTER ACORD

The funeral of Walter Acord, 72, Glen Fork, will he held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Evans and Evans Funeral Directors in Oceana, with the Revs. John Richardson and Jim Towe officiating. Burial will be in Acord Family Cemetery Bolt.

He died in a Beckley hospital Wednesday evening after a long illness.

Born Sept. 5, 1902 at Bolt, he was a son or the late John Moses and Della Calloway Acord.

He is a member of the Russell Baptist Church at Glen Fork, was a retired coal miner and a member of the United Mine Workers.

Surviving are his wife, Thelma Adkins Acord; five sons, M. Sgt. Charles Eugene Acord stationed with the Air Force in Great Falls, Mont., and Harold, Earl, Dale and Roger all of Glen Fork; a daughter, Mrs. Pat Lambert, Glen Fork; two brothers, Clayton, Glen Fork and Cleat of Beckley; two sisters, Mrs. Ross (Laura) Curtis and Mrs. Ted (Hattie) Jennings, both of Beckley, 19 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
