GLEN FORK — Roger Claude Acord, 65, of Glen Fork, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006, following a sudden illness.
Born Jan. 19, 1941, at Glen Fork, he was the son of the late Walter and Thelma Adkins Acord.
Roger was a member of the Glen Fork Baptist Temple. He worked for Maple Meadows as a welder. Roger enjoyed hunting, working on guns, making knives, drinking coffee with his friends, and enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, a daughter, Donna Acord, preceded him in death.
Survivors include four sons, Roger E. Acord and his wife, Barbie, of Crouches Farm, Joey Acord and his wife, Missy, of Glen Rogers, Michael Acord and his wife, Tina, of Matheny, and Kenny Acord and his wife, Rondia, of Glen Fork; a daughter, Carla Goodwin and her husband, Travis, of Chesapeake, Va.; four brothers, Harold Acord of Collinsville, Va., Earl Acord, Charlie Acord and Dale Acord, all of Glen Fork; a sister, Pat Lambert of Glen Fork; a special nephew, Chip Lambert; and 13 grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Glen Fork Baptist Temple, with the Revs. Ronnie Acord, Herman Cook, Randy Acord and Brian Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Acord Family Cemetery, Bolt.
Friends may call noon Tuesday until the time of the service at the church.
