Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m. at the Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel for Harvie E. Tackett, 83, of West Van Lear, Ky., who passed away Thursday, Feb. 9 2006 at Highlands Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg, Ky. Mr. Tackett was born December 21, 1924 in Johnson County, Ky., son of the late Sanford and Dora Bayes Tackett. He was a retired coal miner. He was also preceded in death by two sons, James Richard and Frank Tackett. Surviving are one son, of Sitka, Ky.; four step-sons; and three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, six step- grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. The service was officiated by Hubert Slone and Toby Johnson, with burial in the Johnson County Memorial Cemetery of Staffordsville, Ky. Arrangements under the direction of the Jones-Preston Funeral Home of Paintsville, Ky.
