William J. Hogan, 53, for the past 15 years city traveler for McBride, Cannem and Hudson, limited and an active contract bridge player, died Sunday morning in Misericordia hospital. Mr. Hogan resided at 341 Assiniboine Ave.

A charter member of the Winnipeg Contract Bridge Club, he was a former president of this organization and past president and charter member of the Manitoba Contract Bridge society. Several years ago, partnered with T. G. Cox, he won the Canadian East-West championship in the World Bridge Olympic.

Born in Ontario, Mr. Hogan came to Winnipeg in 1899 and was one of the earliest members of St. Ignatius parish. At the time of his death he was a member of St. Mary's Parish, and the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Hogan is survived by his father, E. W. Hogan of Emo, Ontario, one brother, Barney E. of Kent, Washington; a sister, Mrs. J. J. Overand of Minneapolis.

Prayers will be said Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. in Barker's Funeral chapel. Requiem high mass will be sung Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Cathedral with burial in Assiniboine Memorial Park Cemetery.
