Josephine N. Vaudrin, age 92, of Crookston, MN, died Wednesday morning, April 3, 2013 at the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home in Crookston, MN. Josephine Nora Hogan was born on April 30, 1920 in Emo, Ontario, Canada, daughter of William Enos and Senja Wilhemena (Ristanen) Hogan. She began school at Emo, then moved to Gentilly, MN to live with her sister, and attended the Northwest School of Agriculture in Crookston. From 1937 to 1942, Jo worked at St. Vincent Hospital and George Peters Grocery. In 1942, she went to Seattle, WA, where she worked in a Safeway Grocery Store. She was united in marriage with Leopold "Paul" Vaudrin on May 9, 1943 in Long Pine, Nebraska and she returned to Crookston when Paul was on his way overseas in 1943. She raised her children. She became a US Citizen on July 25, 1945 at Crookston. From 1970 to 1984, Jo worked at H&R Block and also worked at Coast to Coast doing book work for Gale Lerum. After retiring from H&R Block and Coast to Coast, she would volunteer during tax time at the Senior Center, doing taxes for the seniors there.

She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Emo, St. Anne's Catholic Church in Crookston until the church closed and joined the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. She was a member of the National Catholic Society of Foresters, serving as treasurer for several years. She also worked with the funeral guilds at church. She was involved with several different card clubs over the years. She loved to play cards, doing crafts with plastic canvas, making many different things for her friends and family. Every Saturday, she would bake cookies and homemade bread. She loved to go fishing with Dad, whenever they had the chance and they liked to travel. She loved to tend to her garden, especially her raspberries, that she would share with family and friends.

She is survived by her children: John Vaudrin of Westminster, CO, Rosemary Vaudrin of Fargo, Robert (Jeri) Vaudrin of Fargo, David Vaudrin of Fort Worth, TX, Maureen (James) Laughery of Crookston; son-in-law: Jerry Duphorn of Crookston; grandchildren: Michael (Amy) Vaudrin, Christopher, April & Larry Vaudrin, all of Idaho, Justin (Amanda) Vaudrin & Monique Vaudrin, all of Colorado, Troy (Sara) Duphorn of Grand Forks, Darin (Kara) Duphorn of Bloomington, Kristin (Andrew) Slavik of Kentucky, Patricia Vaudrin of Iowa, Matthew & Mark Vaudrin of Fargo, Dana (Jeremy) Williams of Sugar Land, TX, Jill (Ryan) Keams of Chicago, Matthew (Karina) Vaudrin of Texas, Mike (Brandi) Vaudrin of Savannah, GA, Kelly, Julie, Josh, Adam Laughery of Crookston; step-grandchildren: Todd, James & Anthony Thompson; 26 great-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandson & 2 step great great-grandsons; sisters: Patricia Schiebel of Kitchener, Ontario and Monica – Sister Mary Columba of Chatham, Ontario. She was preceded in death by her parents: William & Senja; her husband: Paul on March 31, 2001; son: James on Feb 4, 2009 and an infant son who died in October, 1959; daughter: Mary Duphorn on July 30, 2007; daughter-in-law, Diane Vaudrin, who died in July, 2012; grandson: Nathan Lindsley on April 1, 2002; 8 brothers and 7 sisters-in-law: Joseph & Mary Kathleen (Kay) Hogan, Arthur & Verna Hogan, Gordon & Mabel Hogan, Bernard & Loretta Hogan, Leo & Marie Hogan, Andrew (Andy) & Kathleen (Kay) Hogan, William & Phyllis Hogan, and an infant brother, Francis; 6 sisters and 4 brothers-in-law: Murial & James Overend, Senja & William Faber, Lillian & Michael (Mitch) Wicheruk, Phoebe Hogan, Doreen and Jean (John) Desrochers, and an infant sister, Margaret Hogan; and a brother-in-law: Mello Schiebel.

Josephine's funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Monday, April 8, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Crookston, MN, with The Rev. Vincent Miller presiding. Visitation will be from 5-7 PM, Sunday, April 7, 2013 at the church with a prayer service at 7 PM. Visitation will also be for one hour before services at the church on Monday. Burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery, Gentilly, in the spring.
