Robert Clinton Pierce, 75, of Briar, MO, formerly of Caruthersville, died July 5 at his home. Born Aug. 17, 1908, he was the son of Charlie and Sarah Elizabeth Felts Pierce. He was a Baptist, a former Brown Shoe Co. employee and a retired truck driver. He had lived in Briar the past several years. He is survived by five sons, Jerry Robert Pierce of Coahoma, Miss, Ronald Eugene Pierce of Bolivar, Tenn, Larry Clinton Pierce of Briar, MO, Billy Wayne Pierce of Creal Springs, Ill., and Johnny Ray Pierce of Tampa, FL,. Four daughters, Mrs. Patsy Ruth Lafferty of Clarksdale, Miss., Mrs. Betty Jo Dodd of Caruthersville, MO., Mrs. Jessie Marie Pearson of Tampa, FL., and Mrs. Maryland Tosh of Batesville, AR. Four sisters, Mrs. Ben Holly of Cooter, Mrs. Buford Thweatt of Houston, Mrs. Allie Bowman of Caruthersville, and Mrs. Jessie Mead of Memphis. Seventeen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sudie Mae Kirk Pierce, and his second wife, Irene Luten Pierce.
Services were Saturday at 4:30 p.m. at H.S. Smith Funeral Home chapel in Caruthersville, the Rev. Joe D. Smith officiating, with burial in Maple Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jimmy Correll, Redman Dunham, James Ralph Murphy, Stan Dodd, J.D. Boyce, and Gene Atwood.
