CASHMERE _ Carrie M. Cope, 88, a longtime Cashmere resident, died Saturday evening, Jan. 1, 1994, in the Cashmere Convalescent Center.

She was born Feb. 22, 1905, in Italy, Texas, to John and Martie (Tipton) Farmer. She attended Chapel Hill School near Clinton, Okla.

She married Wayne H. Cope on Nov. 23, 1921, in Clinton. They farmed there before moving to the Cashmere area in 1932. She owned and operated the Alley Kitchen restaurant in Cashmere for a few years. She later worked at Safeway for four years and at Blue Star Growers for 30 years on a seasonal basis.

Mrs. Cope was a member of the Baptist Church; the TLC Club; and the Cashmere American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors include three sons, Leo W. and N. Gene Cope, both of Cashmere, and Dale R. of Snohomish; four brothers, Jack, Bade and Jess Farmer, all of Cashmere, and John Farmer of East Wenatchee; one sister, Mildred ``Midge'' Tichacek, Cashmere; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband and two brothers.

Arrangements are by Braun Funeral Home, Cashmere.
