Mardie L. Farmer, 95, a resident of Cashmere for the past 57 years, passed away Saturday in the Cashmere Convalescent Center. She was born April 22, 1885, in Nashville, Tenn., moved to Frost, Texas, in 1894 and attended school there. On Jan. 28, 1904 she married John R. Farmer at Italy, Texas. They moved to Oklahoma in 1916, then to Cashmere in 1923 where Mr. Farmer passed away in 1955. She was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are two daughters, Midge Tichacek and Carrie Cope, both of Cashmere; four sons, John Farmer, East Wenatchee, Jess, Bade and Jack, all of Cashmere; 13 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, J.B. Tipton, Garfield, Texas; and three sisters, Ruby Wood, Lillie Warren and Callie Brown, all of Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, David and Raymond. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Braun Funeral Chapel with Rev. John Rogers officiating. Suzanne MacPherson sang "Precious Memories" and "Sweet By and By" with Earl Barnes acting as organist. Burial took place in the Cashmere Cemetery with pallbearers: Bud Fleming, Jess Farmer, Jack Knowles, Dan Farmer, Gary Farmer, Gene Cope, Fred Hyde and Bob Spanjer.
