"Arlo Ashford, 40, resident of Castle Rock for 36 years was killed Tuesday afternoon in a logging accident near Morton where he was working with Guy and Frank Vaness. Mr. Ashford was born June 11, 1909, at Aumsville, Oregon. The family came to Castle Rock in 1914. He leaves his mother, Mrs. Amanda Jane Orrahood of Castle Rock, five brothers, Elmer L. of Scio, Oregon; George of Albany, Oregon; Melvin of Fall City, Oregon; W. R. of Kelso; and Aaron of Portland; one sister, Mrs. Blanche Mayfield of Dufur, Oregon. The funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Hubbard Chapel with Rev. Ernest Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Hubbard Cemetery. The Hubbard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements." Castle Rock Advocate, June 8, 1950
