Salt Lake City - Funeral services for Merlin Eugene Nelson, 74, of Salt Lake City, who died of leukemia Saturday, March 24, 1976, will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. in the Riverside Ward Chapel, 400 N. 1100 W.
Mr. Nelson was the brother of Mrs. Gordon (Afton) Cowan of Orem.
He was born March 9, 1902 in Newton, Cashe County, a son of Eugene and Christina Hogenson Nelson. He married Elda Kennington on June 21, 1941 in Logan, and the marriage was solemnized later in the Logan LDS Temple.
Mr. Nelson was active in the LDS Church, and was a high priest at the time of his death.
Survivors include his widow and one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Deanne) Holyoak, Thornton, Colo.; five grandchildren; one brother and seven sisters, Mrs. Cowan, Orem; Blaine R. Nelson and Mrs. Dorine Kandt, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Lex (Uvada) Lewis, Logan; Mrs. William (Mabel) Smart, Missoula, Mont.; Mrs. Delles (Erma) Heaps, Freedom, Wyo.; Mrs. Sydney (Edries) Hansen, Newton, and Mrs. Richard (Vaudis) Temple, Lompoc, Calif.
Friends may call at Larkin Mortuary, 260 E. South Temple, tonight from 6 to 8 o'clock or Tuesday one hour prior to services at the ward chapel. Burial will be in Redwood Memorial Estates.
