Florence R. Carpenter, 89, formerly of 107 W. 11th, died Wednesday morning at a local nursing home. She was born in Oklahoma [KS] on November 16, 1888.

She and Frank G. Carpenter were married in Caney, Kan. on October 19, 1910. They came to this area from Missouri in 1925 and in 1962 moved to Cook, Washington. He died at White Salmon in 1964 and she returned to Ellensburg to make her home in 1969.

Mrs. Carpenter was affiliated with the Thorp Church of Christ and the New Testament Christian Church. She was a member of the Rodeo City Grandmothers' Club and the Woldale Thursday Club.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bert (Elsie) Wilcox of Thorp, Mrs. Ward (Allie) Simons of Ellensburg and Mrs. John (Maxine) Stuckey of Seattle; one son, Rev. Robert L. Carpenter of Poulsbo; 17 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren; two brothers, William Hughes of Ellensburg and Paul Hughes of San Diego; and one sister, Mrs. Clark (Anna) Wheeler, Ellensburg.

At the request of the deceased, friends may pay their respects at Evenson Funeral Home until 9 p.m. Friday. Funeral and burial will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Goodwill Cemetery at White Salmon.

The family suggests memorials to the Rodeo City Grandmothers' Club, Ladies Community Lounge or a favorite charity.
