MRS. RIVINIUS DIED SUDDENLY AT GACKLE by Mrs. Eddie K. Remboldt
Mrs. Elizabeth Rivinius, 66, widow of the late John Rivinius, died at her home in Gackle suddenly last Sunday evening, May 27. Mother Rivinius had not complained of being ill. She evidently had been in the yard about 7:15 p.m. and was entering the house when she was stricken by a heart attack and died immediately. She was found by friends who were riding by and saw her on the sidewalk in front of the door.
Mrs. Rivinius, whose maiden name was Elizabeth Remboldt, was born in South Russia, September 7, 1878. She came to America with her parents when five years old, living near Scoutland, S.D. She was married to Konrad Remboldt in 1891 at Olivet, S.D. They were the parents of seven daughters and five sons. Mr. Remboldt died Nov. 12, 1918. In 1922 she was married to Gottlieb Bender. They lived on a farm east of Gackle until Mr. Bender's death in 1928. The following year Mrs. Bender and John Rivinius were married and they lived on the farm until Mr. Rivinius died in 1940. Mrs. Rivinius moved to Gackle in December, 1940, living with her son, Eddie and family until May, 1942, when she bought the home in which she died.
Survivors are the following sons and daughters: Christ K. and Albert K. Remboldt of Everett, Wash.; Mrs. J.P. Nenbauer (Lydia) of Bismarck; Archie W. Remboldt of Jamestown; Mrs. J.W. Muller (Philipina), Mrs. Ed. Otto (Bertha), Miss Pauline Remboldt, Eddie K. Remboldt, Mrs. Alvin DeWitt (Christina) and Mrs. Fred F. Lang (Helen) all of Gackle. Konrad K. Remboldt and Mrs. Ed. Hehn (Lizzie) preceded their mother in death. Also surviving are four brothers: John, Henry, Peter and Christ Remboldt, and a sister, Mrs. Carl Heinrich of Gackle; 16 stepchildren, 25 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Mrs. Rivinius was a member of Grace Baptist Church and Ladies' Aid.
The funeral was held in Grace Baptist church with Rev. J.J. Abel in charge. Rev. G.W. Rutsch of Emery, S.D. also took part in the services. Music was rendered by the Ladies' Aid and grand-daughters. Pallbearers were the husbands of the Rivinus (sic) daughters and sons of John Rivinius. Six grand-daughters acted as flower girls. All children were present for the funeral, also Rev. and Mrrs. (sic) K. Goodwin and Frieda Rivinius of Macan, Ga.; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Brandt and Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Gall of Wishek; Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Ketterling of Elgin and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Haar of Bismarck.
Burial was made in the Gackle cemetery beside her first husband.

Ten children were listed as born and living. She was living with husband Conrad (40), children Conrad (16), Lizzie (14), Christian (13), Pauline (10), Philbena (9), Lydia (8), Bertha (6), Edward (4), Albert (2), Christina (10 months), and hired hand John Witzel.
