Ansel P. Ballew
Ansel P. Ballew, 82, died at a local hospital early yesterday morning following an illness of three weeks.
Mr. Ballew was born in the Glassy Mountain section in upper Greenville county and lived there until 40 years ago when he came to Greenville. For about 30 years he was employed by the American Spinning company , having retired a few years ago. Since that time he had lived with his son, Croal Ballew, 27 Pelzer street, Monaghan mill.
He was a member of Morgan Memorial Baptist church and of Sam Poe lodge, A.F.M.
Surviving are one daughter Mrs. Minnie McCue, Spindale, NC; five sons Croal Ballew,Bunyan Ballew, and Stafford Ballew, all of Greenville; Malcomb Ballew, Simpsonville, Roland R. Ballew, Chester, in addition to 21 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Lillie Ann Harris and Mrs. Jean Fisher, Greenville, and one brother Furman Ballew, Greenville county.
Funeral services will be held from Monaghan Baptist church this afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. The Rev. S.W. Jolly will officiate, assisted bythe Rev. E. E. Glenn. Interment will be in Springwood cemetery.
Until the hour of service the body will be at the home, 27 Pelzer street, Monaghan mill.
